In November 2009 the renovation/rebuild of Richmond’s historical Royal Saxon was finally complete. In creating an ‘urban ruin’ designers Six Degrees had succeeded in melding exposed brick, blue stone and black ironwork into a building with clean modern lines.

As you walk in from the street and through the original freestanding façade to the rear courtyard there is an overwhelming sense of openness. The large Jackson Bay fig trees dominate the outside dining areas and as your eyes are drawn skyward, the patchwork nature of the new building is fully realised.

In June of 2010 Royal Saxon received a prestigious commercial architectural award from the Australian Institute of Architects.
